CHAIR OF CHANGE MANAGEMENT
PRESENTATION
A research chair on the theme of change
Change is at the heart of the concerns of both companies and society in general. The rhetoric of business leaders and the programs of politicians regularly use the word change to express the notions of projects, progress and innovation.
The concept of change is easily understood by its goal of transformation. On a contrary, the mechanisms and processes allowing successful change are more difficult to understand.
The ESSEC Chair of Change Management aims to understand the phenomenon and mechanisms of change in different social and economical environments. The ESSEC Chair of Change Management aims to be a research Chair on the theme of change in companies, administrations, and society in general.
The Chair aims to be at the same time an motor for research production and a forum of exchange and practices between partners.
CHANGE MANAGEMENT AS A FACTOR OF SUCCESS FOR PROJECTS.
Initiated in the 90’s through large IT projects, change management has become a practice aimed at allowing its beneficiaries to endorse those projects which affect them. More and more common for any type of project, change management turns out to be a profitable investment. It represents 5 to 7% of the amount spent on projects but can increase the probabilities of success by about 50% in terms of time limits. By moblilizing socio-organizational diagnosis, communication, training and manager coaching, change management has four goals: information, understanding, the support and the participation of beneficiaries. Even if there are many ways to bring about change, it is a management tool that every company should adapt to its environment and challenges.
This ambition is obtained through research programs, as well as studies led by research teams. The considered themes are the following: the capacity for change of an organization, behaviors towards change, change-related training, change and well-being, change as a factor for the learning company, etc.
Those research programs, carried-out together with our partners, produce publications and communications aimed at enriching the concepts, methods, and tools of Change Management.
The Chair aims to be at the same time an motor for research production and a forum of exchange and practices between partners.
